Chanshal Pass (Rohru - Dodra Kwar high crossing) is a hard-rated off-road trail near Chanshal Pass, Shimla district (Rohru toward Dodra-Kwar), Himachal Pradesh over High alpine meadow road, ~3,749 m pass, rough/broken surface, snow-prone, remote terrain. As a hard route it's a demanding route best left to experienced drivers in properly-equipped, modified vehicles.
The trail is at its best in summer and post-monsoon, and is usually impassable during winter and spring.
Run it in a convoy rather than solo; it best suits high altitude, mountain pass, remote drive and scenic drive.
The Chanshal Pass road is a public high-mountain road (no permit to drive it) toward the remote Dodra-Kwar valley. It is one of the highest motorable stretches in the Shimla region (~3,749 m), snowbound and closed in winter, best ~June to October. Very remote and largely unbarriered - high-clearance vehicle advised, carry fuel/essentials, avoid in bad weather, and confirm the pass is open locally before travel..
