Know before you go — assess yourself and your vehicle

These grades are a guide, not a guarantee — terrain and conditions change. Before you drive, honestly judge your own off-road experience and your vehicle’s capability (ground clearance, tyres, recovery gear, and 4×4 low-range where needed), study the route and current conditions, and don’t attempt anything above your level. If unsure, recce on foot first and be ready to turn back.

Check local conditions the day you go: local news & road notices, the weather forecast, landslide / road-closure reports, river & water-crossing levels (especially in and just after the monsoon), and any forest closures. Do not set out if any of these look risky.

Driving solo? There’s no second vehicle to recover you — share your exact route and expected return time with someone, carry recovery gear and a way to call for help (signal often drops on trail), and stay well within your limits.

Off-road driving is inherently risky. Trail conditions change and may be inaccurate or out of date. Verify access, permissions and conditions locally, carry recovery gear, and never ride alone or beyond your ability — 4x4 Trails India and the listing's contributors accept no liability for any loss, injury or damage.
