About this trail
Jalori Pass (Shoja - Jibhi ridge drive) is a moderate-rated off-road trail near Jalori Pass, between Shoja and Ani, Kullu / Banjar valley, Himachal Pradesh over Deodar & oak forest ridge road, steep hairpins, high mountain pass (~3,120 m) terrain. As a moderate route it's a step up that rewards low-range, decent ground clearance and some prior off-road time.
The trail is at its best in summer, post-monsoon and autumn, and is usually impassable during winter.
It best suits scenic drive, forest drive and mountain pass.
The Jalori Pass road itself is a public mountain road (no permit to drive the pass). It is a seasonal high pass - snowbound and effectively closed in deep winter; confirm it is open locally before travelling. The Serolsar Lake and Raghupur Fort day treks start at the pass in Kullu's Outer Seraj, OUTSIDE the Great Himalayan National Park — no GHNP permit is needed for them. A forest permit is required only for actual entry into GHNP (the Tirthan/Sainj valleys, via the Gushaini/Neuli gates); off-road driving in reserved forest is not permitted..
