    The signature climb from Ponneri — a state-maintained mountain road of 14 tight hairpin bends, each named after a Tamil poet, branching off National Highway 48. The road is narrow: stop only at the wider bends, use the horn on blind curves, and travel up and down in daylight. There are no petrol pumps on the hills, so fill up at the last pump in the plains.
